Overview 

As Northern Europe’s leading producer of windows and doors, Inwido develops, produces, and sells a complete range of windows and doors in wood and wood/aluminium. The Group has approximately 3,600 employees in the Nordic region, Poland, Russia, the UK and Ireland. In 2008, sales totaled SEK 5.6 billion. The headquarters are located in Malmö, Sweden. Inwido is owned by Ratos AB, one of Europe’s largest listed private equity companies.

The Group encapsulates the pedigree and history of its more than 20 brands. During the last four years, Inwido has built up a leading position in the Nordic region, and has established a presence in Poland, Russia, the UK and Ireland.

2008 – Consolidation phase

• Focus on sales and increased market coverage.
• Closure decisions regarding factories in Åshammar, Högsby and Herning.
• Production discontinued at Lenhovda Fönster and Ostvik.
• Divestment of loss-making component factory in Norsjö.
• Rationalisation of existing production.
• Harmonisation of pivoted windows in Sweden and Norway.
• New brand strategy in Denmark and Finland.

2007 – Focus on the value chain

• Reverse integration through acquisition of A-gruppen, Steelform and ABC Snickerier.
• Establishment of accessories program through acquisition of DeCasa (Lundbergs and Duri).
• Broadening of market coverage in Denmark through acquisition of KPK Døre & Vinduer.
• Secured broader coverage of UK market through acquisition of Allan Brothers.
• Complementary acquisition of Tiivituote in Finland also provides access to the Russian market. 

2006 – Continued Nordic expansion

• Establishment in Norway through acquisitions.
   – Frekhaug Vinduet and Lyssands Treindustri.

• Complementary acquisitions in Denmark, Finland and Sweden.
   – Frovin Vinduer og Dører, Denmark, Eskopuu, Finland and Erafönster, Sweden.

• Strengthened door operations through acquisitions.
   – Moddörr and SnickarPer, Sweden.

• Establishment beyond the Nordic region through acquisitions.
   – Sokolka, Poland, Dansk Window Systems and Carlson, Ireland.

 2005 – Establishing a leading position in the Nordic Region

• Ratos becomes new owner of Inwido.
• Acquisitions of leading window companies in Denmark and Finland, providing a platform in each market.
   – Storke Vinduer and Outline, Denmark and Pihlavan Ikkuna, Finland.

• Complementary acquisitions in Sweden.
   – Ostvik Fönster, Hajomfönster and Lenhovda Fönster.

• Doors added to product range.
