Sustainability

Our ambition is to keep offering quality products in an increasing number of countries, and to lead the industry in innovative thinking and assuming greater responsibility. We monitor trends maintain contacts with leading researchers, architects and designers.

Saving energy

For several years, Inwido has held a leading position in the development of energy efficient windows. Efforts to reduce energy leakage from windows and doors have progressed furthest in Sweden and this knowledge is being disseminated to the other business areas.

The objective is to lower the U-factor, which indicates how well a window or door prevents heat escaping from a building. Inwido’s most energy efficient windows have a U-factor of 0.9, compared with a factor of 1.4 for standard windows.

But excessive indoor heat can also be a problem. In either case, the right type of windows will reduce the need for heating or cooling a building. An energy efficient window means improved economy, while contributing to a better climate, globally.

Inwido has begun efforts in energy labelling for windows on a voluntary basis and follows the EU’s classification for household products to help consumers make sustainable choices.

Responsible production

There are many reasons to specify and use wood products. Wood is uniquely renewable and is the most environmentally sound material. It offers long term value as an easily maintained natural material, has a simple yet elegant appearance and feel, and provides unquestionable thermal performance with regards to today’s construction regulations.

The raw materials used to produce our products are all sourced from responsibly managed forests and most of our brands have FSC* certification as a proof of this. Most of the wood used by Inwido is responsibly sourced from well-managed forests near our manufacturing facilities. Ensuring that harvested trees are replaced, maintains the carbon sink effect of the forests.

Inwido works continuously to develop environmentally adapted windows and doors. Among other things, Inwido has set itself the objective of adapting its production process to minimize its environmental impact.

* FSC is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC standards are globally recognized as the highest social and environmental standards in forestry.
