Window and door solutions for well-being

Inwido is Northern Europe’s largest producer of innovative, environmentally friendly, wood-based window and door solutions. The company has operations in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Poland, Russia, the UK and Ireland, and exports to a large number of other countries. Inwido has ­approximately 3,700 employees and generated sales of SEK 5.1 billion in 2010. Consumers buy more than ­2 million windows and doors from Inwido across more than 15 different markets every year. The Group’s headquarters are located in Malmö, Sweden. 

Inwido produces and sells windows under some ­­20 different national brands. The company focuses on both the consumer and industry markets, thereby achieving broad market coverage. However, sales to the consumer market account for approximately ­70 percent of the total.

The consumer market is dominated by renovation, remodelling and extension projects. Industry customers are mainly major building companies and manufacturers of prefabricated homes, who generally procure framework agreements or larger volumes for specific building projects.

Inwido’s principal owner is the private equity conglomerate Ratos, which is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange. Ratos owns 96 percent of Inwido AB, with senior executives holding the remaining 4 percent.  

2010 in brief

  • Operating profit (EBITA)* reached a record high during 2010, amounting to SEK 527 million, an increase of 35 percent compared with the previous year. The operating margin amounted to 10.2 percent.
  • Adjusted for currency effects, net sales ­amounted to SEK 5,149 million, an increase of 7 percent compared to the previous year.
  • Inwido AB acquired 34 percent of the shares in Inwido Denmark, following which the process of acquiring the outstanding minority interests in Inwido’s subsidiaries is largely complete.
  • 2010 saw the implementation of Inwido’s ­new strategy, which aims to help the company become more consumer-oriented.
  • A Group-wide brand strategy was developed and work began on its implementation.
  • Inwido entered into a cooperation agreement with German company Schüco, which means that Inwido’s product range will be joined by Schüco’s aluminium-based façade solutions as of 2011.
  • New market-oriented Managing Directors were recruited in Sweden, Poland and Russia. The company also appointed a manager for Inwido Europe and a Group-wide HR director, in order to further strengthen Inwido’s consumer focus and competence development.
